This blog would give some basic information for beginners of Spanish language learners. Hope to draw from 6 years of my dedicated studies to Spanish language as well as experience in translating, interpreting from Spanish to English to help out beginners.
Today, I am starting with the pronunciation of vowels which is entirely different from English and is a crucial factor for speaking the language well without an accent. Surprisingly, the sounds are very similar to those of Hindi (national language of India).
Let's start with 'A' :
- Always, pronounce it with an open mouth, almost like the 'a' in 'partner'.
- In Spanish, there is no other sound for 'a' unlike in English where it can be almost silent or sound like an 'ai' like in the word 'Spanish.'
- Always speak it out out loud and clear, which goes for all the vowels in Spanish.
- Try singing the rhyme 'Ba ba black sheep' and remember the sounds of 'a' in ba. Repeat it in you mind ample number of times.
